Dendrobium
aphyllum
A Dendrobium species that can get at least more than 100 years old.
The first D. aphyllum I saw was in the garden of my wife's grand parents.
The plant was magnificent in size and showered maybe a thousand flowers
over an old tree trunk. Grandpa, by then in his 80s, assured us the
orchid had been there already when he was a child. Even then he remembers
it as a large plant.
There is something about age and orchids. It seems they do not die naturally
on their host trees; they fall with the tree when it is felled or when
it has reached hundreds of years and succumbs to age. Only then they
will cease with the tree as they can not survive on the forest floor.
In all my years researching natural habitats of orchids, I have never
come across a dead orchid in a life tree.
This is one reason why traditional medicine gives importance to orchids
as a life's elixir, a herb that may support longevity. Latest research
has proven their improving effects on the immune system, and their ability
to strengthen Yin. These effects may give clues into the key for longevity.

Dendrobium aphyllum flowers - as most Dendrobium species - during the
end of the dry season, when the plant has no leaves; therefore the name
"aphyllum": no leaves.

The flowers have a very pleasant aroma and attract a small bee species.

These are Dendrobium aphyllum dried stems as they are available from
TianZi.They are commonly used to support the immune system.

When infused in hot water, the extraction is faster with sliced orchid
stems.

Most
Dendrobium species during dry season shed leaves and turn into plants
that resemble a cactus. This is a perfect adaptation to the dry and sun-drenched
habitats up in the trees. In extreme years they face 6 months without
rain and their hosting tree might even shed its leaves. Therefore, Dai
people traditionally planted this orchid on the roofs of their houses.
All
Dendrobium species are nowadays used for Chinese medicine. We are producing
medicinal
orchids under natural conditions and we care in special
projects for the survival of orchid mother plants in their
natural environment.
We
also specialize in cold tolerant orchid genus from South China, Tibet,
North Myanmar (Burma), Northern Thailand, and North Vietnam.
Many
of our species and hybrids from tissue culture can be kept outdoors in
Europe and the USA during most parts of the year.
We
exclusively work with importers on long term arrangements. Their partnership
enables us to protect the diversity of orchids in their natural environments
under our care.
Should
you be interested to work with us as a distributor for your country, please

Thank
you for your interest in our concept.

ORCHID
FLOWER TEA

A truly rare treat not only for orchid lovers...
For orchid importers:
Your
ecologically friendly production of orchids:
proudly traceable!
Imagine, the traceability of your supply chain leads your
customers to the tropical jungles of the Mekong river and to the Himalayan
mountains where Tibet meets Yunnan. Immerged in diverse culture and rich
biodiversity, your customers can visit the places and people where your
organic products start from pristine soils, clean air, and where they
support the livelihood of local ethnic communities.
Would this add to the sustainability and credibility of your company?
Would your trademark benefit from international
research publications lauding your company's involvement in saving the
rain forest?
If you are in the food, cosmetics, flower, herbal, and medical business,
certifying your products as contributing to rain forest and biodiversity
protection will be an advantage with a competitive edge.
The TianZi Biodiversity Centre is working with German Universities to
design land use systems, which are bound to change paradigms: we promote
rare agro-biodiversity species, manage complexity, and find alternatives
to destructive forms of mono culture.
If all this is in line with your company's business concept - please contact
us.
