Cryptrocoryne crispatula Engler var. sinensis (Merrill) N.Jacobsen A Mekong species, which can truly take harsh conditions: it is inundated by several meters in the torrent Mekong during rainy season in summer. In dry season - this is winter - when the lower sandy banks are exposed, it forms dense grass like mats and flowers immediately. This species requires full sunshine to develop well during winter. In the background the Mekong river; plastic bags in the bushes (unfortunately) indicate the highery water levels during rainy season. ![]() ![]() The flower of Cryptrocoryne crispatula Unfortunately, the habitats of Cryptrocoryne crispatula are highly endangered by the dams constructed along the Mekong. We will appreciate if aqua culturists could help us in saving it. At the moment we at TianZi are trying to find ways of cultivating this tiny beauty off the Mekong shores. HOME NatureProducts.Net |
